Family with a developmentally disabled Son - Boulder, Colorado

"Kim has helped to bring out the best in J. Because he's able to express his feelings appropriately, he's less frustrated and listening better. His behavior is improving every day. Thank you Kim!"

Mother of a 7 year-old boy

"Kim has provided the most significant difference in V's life. She has reached her through the medium of music, patience, persistence and professional expertise. Music psychotherapy transformed her life by developing her hidden ability to relate to the world and to communicate on a non-verbal level. She is happier with fewer mood swings and improved ability to handle stressful situations."

Family with a developmentally disabled sister and daughter. Denver, Colorado

“C. has good care from a loving community of family, friends, therapists, doctors, and skilled nurses. His music therapist is also a very important member of this community. She has taken the time to strategically enhance his love of music by supporting his fine and gross motor skills. We are beginning to see the progress he is making because he is now able to activate a drum with a switch controlled by his check and feet. Her diligence to increasing his range of motion is also helping him learn to hold a drum stick and with help, hit a drum. Seeing C. respond the way he does during music therapy is something we haven’t seen before. It simply brings tears to our eyes. He smiles, his eyes light up, and it’s obvious he really enjoys music therapy.”

Parents of a developmentally disabled boy. Spokane, Washington

“I am the mother of a 13 year-old son who has Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and Epilepsy. T’s biggest enjoyment in life is music and for a boy who needs physical therapy so much, it is such a blessing to have Music Therapy.I t is so rewarding mentally and physically for him, and rewarding for me to see him happy and he looks so forward to it every week. He brightens up when I tell him "It's time to go chillin' with "McMillin". Thank you Kim for helping my son.”

Parent of T.

"Our Grandchildren are both under the wing of Kim whom has a gift for drawing out their issues and coming up with solutions unique and innovative to meet the needs of the individual child. The gratitude I have for this lady and the wonderful environment she has created to ease a stagnant child's way in this unpredictable world is boundless. She is a blessing to our community as well as personally to my family. Her methods include developing a lyrical appreciation and music as an outlet for expression in her patient and gentle manner. My 7-y-o grandson's speech has increased from utterances often indiscernible to descriptive sentences, that we may better meet his needs. My 6-y-o granddaughter has just recently began her therapy but already I can see the positive outcomes in her; most especially in her self esteem as a sibling of a special needs child. I trained as a nurse and also was a foster parent and recommend Kim who has a huge heart for little people - who have banged up little hearts. She is changing lives in a most delightful way and I thank God for her."

Grandmother of two clients

"Our daughter has made unbelievable advances through music therapy with Kim. I remember being discouraged with her inability to speak full sentences. During an exercise in music therapy, she said her name for the first time! Somehow a simple interval clicked something in her brain. We were so excited. Since then, her verbal skills have increased significantly. Currently we are working on identifying letters/numbers and the letter sounds. Her attention and ability to keep on task has also increased. Using drums, she has been able to mimic rhythms using call and response exercises. We are very pleased with Kim's instruction and the progress it has on our daughter's development. Her class would be beneficial not only for developmentally delayed children but for all children needing help with following instructions, distraction, and attention. We are very appreciative of Kim and her work and look forward to work in the future"

Father of 6 year-old girl

"My grandson has been participating in music therapy for four years. He is autistic, with very little understanding or use of verbal language. He does enjoy music and responds to it positively. He has a good sense of rhythm. As the years have passed, his understanding of spoken language has increased greatly. So has his ability to remember words to songs and sing along with his therapist. The music therapist has used his interest in music to help him develop physically also. Movement is partnered with music to improve large muscle coordination."
